Project Accountant, York, PA
Description
We are seeking a disciplined Project Accountant for our Steel team. Primary tasks include the project invoicing and payment process, budget to job cost comparison, daily review of job cost related items, subcontract/purchase order preparation and compliance tracking, and change order preparation.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Work with project management team to quickly buyout a project at commencement, including preparation and distribution of subcontract and purchase order agreements with the required compliance attachments
- Track compliance of all subcontractors and material suppliers
- Support the monthly and annual closeout process
- Job specification review for insurance and bonding requirements
- Review material tickets daily that are received from the field to ensure accuracy of coding
- Review AP unapproved invoices daily, code or forward to project management team for coding
- Load weekly payment to subcontractors as payments are received from owners
- Prepare owner and subcontractor change orders
- Preparation of monthly project billings; effectively communicate with Project Managers and principals in charge, regarding contract documents and change orders related to billing
- Work with project managers to keep accounts receivable current on all projects
- Monthly analyzing of projects with Project Managers to prepare for financial closing
- Prepare and distribute job cost analysis reports
- Work with Superintendents, Project Engineers or Project Manager to report daily productions of self-performed activities
- Process weekly certified payroll reports for prevailing wage projects; collect and manage payrolls from subcontractor on prevailing wage projects
- Create organized phase codes for field superintendent staff
- Prepare variance reports
- Demonstrates computer software proficiency (Microsoft office, Viewpoint, etc.)
- Demonstrates proficiency in accounting skills (formulas, calculations, etc.)
- Scan and enter invoices from subcontractors into viewpoint
- Correspond with general contractors, subcontractors and other vendors regarding invoicing and payment inquiries
- Demonstrates effective communication and relationships with owners, subcontractors and vendors
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions
- Directly assist project management teams with any duties required to complete projects on time and within budget
- Provide accounting assistance to Project Managers and operations staff; respond to financial questions and concerns to meet business needs
- Respond to all vendor inquiries
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Prior accounting experience required; construction or manufacturing project accounting strongly preferred
- Computer and software skills, including Microsoft Office required, Vista/Viewpoint preferred
- Ability to work with all personnel within the organization and facilitate communication effectively
- Ability to work independently and be a team player, must be flexible, and able to work in fast paced and changing environment
