Kinsley’s Steel is currently seeking a talented and experienced QC Inspector to join our growing team. The QC Inspector is mainly responsible for assisting the fabrication team with the in-process and final inspection of fabricated steel. A successful candidate should have a welding certification in D1.1 and/or D1.5 with applicable experience, willingness to learn, and ability to interpret fabrication and construction drawings.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform documented daily inspections of fabricated steel in an AISC certified facility fabricating Structural Steel (D1.1/D1.5)
  • Address and document non-conformances
  • Inspect fabricated material to ensure conformance with the shop drawings
  • Inspect the dimensional layout and placement of parts
  • Perform both in-process and final inspections
  • Participate in our annual AISC QC Audits
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in the inspection of fabricated material
  • Develop goals in order to improve and promote quality
  • Work well with production to solve rising issues
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management

REQUIREMENTS

  • Three-five years minimum experience in laying out and fabrication steel
  • Welding Certification in D1.1 and/or D1.5 is preferred
  • Ability to read and understand fabrication and construction drawings
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in the inspection of fabricated material

Project Manager

Project Manager

Description

Kinsley is seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager for our Steel team. A successful candidate shall have a minimum of five years of experience with steel fabrication/erection, strong computer skills, good communication skills and a willingness to learn.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supervise and coordinate the overall process of fabricating and erecting structural steel, miscellaneous metals, joist, and metal deck for assigned project(s)
  • Manage the steel detailing and surveying
  • Read specifications and blueprints to determine the locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required
  • Create and establish schedules that include preconstruction planning, submittals, engineering, shop drawing creation, material procurement, and fabrication, shipping, erection, and closeout procedures.
  • Prepare, coordinate, review, and execute submittals, contracts, subcontracts, Purchase Orders (PO), Professional Service Agreements (PSA), blueprints/drawings, and other critical documents
  • Prepare a detailed schedule of values for billing purposes; prepare and submit monthly project billings
  • Prepare and negotiate change orders, deducts, and proposals with clients
  • Maintain positive client relationships and communicate effectively with all parties associated with the project
  • Communicate and coordinate with other project contractors to maintain schedule, deliver of materials, and mitigate design conflicts
  • Communicate and coordinate the steel package with other trade contractors via the BIM process and work through clash detection
  • Issue corrective action notices to subcontractors, as required, to enforce company and/or project guidelines/policies
  • Effectively organize and maintain important documents in both a hard copy and electronic format

REQUIREMENTS

  • Prior Project Management experience particularly in steel fabrication/erection strongly preferred
  • A two-four year post-secondary degree preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required; scheduling software (Microsoft Project, Primavera) preferred
  • Valid US driver’s license is required
  • Knowledge of Tekla and Fabtrol software programs is a plus
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in steel construction
  • Knowledge of safety, quality, and cost control standards and procedures
  • Knowledge of applicable and proper use for the following: transit, laser lever, torpedo, torque guns, welders, gas supplied equipment, rigging and components
  • Ability to understand and apply varying levels of mathematics relevant to the position
  • Possess at minimum the tools as required to field measure, verify, and audit basic conformity standards

Fitter/Fabricator

Description

We are seeking detail-oriented and experienced Structural Steel Fitters / Fabricators to join our growing Steel team. The Structural Steel Fitters / Fabricators will fit and assemble structural framework, components, and materials such as angle iron, plates, WF sections, and other steel shapes and components.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lay outs, positions, aligns, and fits together fabricated parts of structural metal products according to blueprint and layout specifications
  • Safely operate overhead cranes
  • Properly fit mill to bear parts such as stiffeners, base plates, and other components
  • Operate cutting and heating torches
  • Accurately perform complex heat corrections
  • Check camber, sweep tolerances of beams and other steel shapes
  • Effectively make necessary corrections per pertinent codes and specifications, with no supervision
  • Perform heat corrections while adhering to procedures with no supervision
  • Produce finished product that meets recognized standards, codes, and customer expectations by maintaining quality procedures and practices
  • Set up complex jigs or assemblies
  • Identify potential hazards and make necessary corrections
  • Interpret complex documents including blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to look at weld symbols and properly prep joints per WPS standards
  • Performs daily cleaning and maintenance of the area
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor including but not limited to, cleaning, trash scrap removal, and other production-related jobs

REQUIREMENTS

  • Superior level layout and math skills
  • Complete understanding of pre-heat functions
  • Ability to set up and use a track torch is required
  • Must pass all tack test F.A.C.W. (Flux Core)

3D Modeler/Checker

3D Modeler / Checker

Description

We are seeking an experienced and driven 3D Modeler/Checker to join our growing Steel team. The 3D Modeler/Checker is mainly responsible for reviewing all drawings from internal and external detailers before they are released to the Shop and/or Field. A successful candidate shall be detailed oriented, have a strong background in steel fabrication and erection, and have good interpersonal communication skills.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supervise and provide leadership, management oversight, and technical assistance to the Structural Steel Detailers
  • Inspect drawings for accuracy, completeness, conformance drafting practices for company standards
  • Perform detailed dimensional, bill material checks, and basic and complex layouts
  • Inspect for interferences and constructability
  • Provide detailing solutions to address various field fixes as required throughout the fabrication and installations of steel employees
  • Assist the steel team with drawing support as required to complete the drawing approval and the fabrication/erection process
  • Conduct all details and e-plans against the structural process
  • Responsible for daily monitoring all RFI’s and addendums
  • Maintain records of changes for purposes of submitting change orders
  • Develop RFI’s as required
  • Assist with shop and field related questions as necessary

REQUIREMENTS

  • Eight years minimum experience in structural steel detailing and quality checking
  • Knowledge of steel fabrication, and/or steel erection, and miscellaneous steel is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge in drafting and checking of structural steel framed buildings, or industrial facilities, such as mining; heavy plate work, hydroelectric, gas plants, chemical plants, conveyors, and bulk material handling facilities
  • Five or more years of experience in detailing with AutoCAD, Tekla, or other similar detailing programs is preferred
  • Knowledge and ability to navigate Tekla, AutoCAD and SDS is preferred
  • Ability to understand the design, build, and fabrication process
  • Knowledge of AISC, AWS, ASME, AWWA, API codes and other building codes is required
  • Ability to understand and implement requirements of AISC Standard practices and OSHA guidelines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to understand and apply varying levels of mathematics relevant to the position (geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ironworker

Ironworker

Description

We are seeking experienced Ironworkers for our growing Steel Fabrication and Erection team. Ironworkers place and install iron or steel beams, girders, joists, columns, metal decking, bridging, and other steel-related materials to form buildings, bridges, and other structures. They also repair and renovate older buildings and structures.

The Ironworkers will report to the General Superintendent but also reports to the Foreman assigned to the project the Ironworker is working on. A successful candidate should have previous experience reading specifications and blueprints, knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in steel construction, and knowledge of safety, quality and cost control standards.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Read specifications and blueprints to determine the locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
  • Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of structural-steel members, using plumb bobs, lasers equipment, transits, and/or levels.
  • Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts, following blueprints and instructions from supervisors.
  • Hoist steel members into place using cranes or other equipment by means of proper signaling.
  • Bolt aligned structural-steel members in position for permanent riveting, bolting, or welding into place.
  • Field assemble metal parts such as steel frames, columns, beams, and girders according to blueprints and/or instructions from supervisors.
  • Push, pull, or pry structural steel members into approximate positions for final attachment.
  • Cut, bend, and weld steel pieces using metal shears, torches, and welding equipment.
  • Safely operate and maintain equipment (personnel and material lifts) and small tools and equipment (welding machines, torch sets, saws, grinders, hoists, etc).
  • Report unsafe working practices and/or conditions
  • Check and maintain adequate gas, oil, or other fluid levels as required to keep machinery in good working order

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to weld and currently maintains various weld certificates as applicable and required for the work and/or can show the ability to pass various weld proficiency tests proving their ability to pass weld certifications that are required to perform the task of the position
  • Ability to understand and apply varying levels of mathematics as applicable to the position
  • Ability to, at minimum, be able to speak and understand English in oral and written form
  • Understanding of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of proper rigging and signaling
  • Knowledge of applicable and proper use for the following: transit, laser lever, torpedo, torque guns, welders, gas supplied equipment, rigging and components
  • Posses at minimum the following tools: bolt bag, spud wrench, bull pins, weld hood (applicable to welders only), tape measure, plumb bob, cheater bar, pliers, clamps, hammers, Bessie clamps, vise grips

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prep and paint structural steel
  • Operate forklift as needed
  • Perform rigging work to move materials as requires
  • Load and unload steel from trucks
  • Perform other duties as required to support the fabrication shop

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience painting and using paint sprayers to apply paint
  • Must have experience with overhead crane
  • Experience using and operation a forklift is required
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by functioning and communicating in an effective manner with co-workers, clients, and supervisors
  • Works in compliance with Kinsley’s safety policies and procedures
  • Must be flexible to work any schedule needed including overtime and Saturdays as needed
  • Basic math skills are required
  • Must be able to tolerate hot and cold working environment
  • Must be able to stand on feet for up to 10 hours
  • Must be organized and can multi-task in a fast-paced environment
